2021 Tough Guy Red Blend
EFESTE donates a portion of proceeds from the sale of Tough Guy red blend, named after Joseph Taylor for the nickname he earned during his fight against Leukemia.
In 2007, winery owners Kevin and Angela Taylor learned that their young son Joe, grandson to ‘Big Papa’ Daniel Ferrelli and Helen Ferrelli, was diagnosed with A.L.L. Leukemia. During the exhaustive treatments, Joe’s strength of spirit and brush-off attitude distinguished him as a “Tough Guy.” We are ever so grateful for his treatment and cure, inspiring us to donate a portion of the wine’s proceeds to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
EFESTE donates a portion of proceeds from the sale of Tough Guy to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. As of 2025, EFESTE has raised over $400,000 through Tough Guy and Rockin' Sips, our yearly benefit for LLS.
WINEMAKERS NOTES
56% Merlot, 33% Syrah, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon
By harvesting the Merlot and Syrah on the same day, we were able to utilize our co-fermentation process, enhancing the integration of flavors and aromas of the wine from the start. This co-fermentation technique allows the varietals to interact more fully, leading to a wine with greater cohesion and complexity than with post-fermentation blending. This method results in a well-rounded and balanced red blend.
TASTING NOTES
On the nose, this wine is reminiscent of springtime, with vibrant fresh floral notes and a hint of minerality like fallen rain on pavement. The palate is full of dark, newly picked cherries, intertwined with layers of ripe blackberries and a touch of smoky spice from the Syrah. The unmistakable taste of our Red Mountain Vineyards shines through, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot add depth with their bold, rounded flavors. Its robust character make it a fantastic choice for those with a love for wine, and a passion for supporting great causes!
